A royal wedding in Athens sends four young lovers and a motley crew of amateur actors into a fairy-filled woodland where they fall under impish manipulation. Could this be real or is it a dream after all?The Duke of Athens, Theseus, and the queen of the Amazons are to be married and festivities have been ordered for the impending nuptials. As the local craftsmen and amateur actors enter the woods to prepare to produce a play for the occasion, Egeus brings his daughter, Hermia, to Theseus for judgment. Egeus believes that she has been bewitched by her husband of choice, Lysander, into agreeing to marry him. As Hermia and Lysander seek the refuge of the woods to plan their elopement, they confide in Helena who, having lost the love of Demetrius and wanting to win him back, tells him of the young couple’s plans.
Meanwhile, fairies who have arrived to bless the royal wedding descend upon the woodlands. As the King and Queen of the Fairies bicker over her refusal to give up her changeling, King Oberon orders a love potion to be made which will be given to the Fairy Queen, Titania, so that she will fall in love with the first person she sees. Unfortunately, not everything goes quite to plan and magical chaos ensues, resulting in hilarious consequences.
